Students in Señora Schwenke’s Spanish class recently completed an online project where they designed their own Spanish-themed restaurant menus. The assignment allowed students to research foods, design menus, and present meals from Spanish-speaking cultures. Students worked on the project during class time and at home before submitting it online last Friday. The activity helped students practice language skills while also learning about Hispanic culture.

Gracie Forney, an 11th grader, said she chose a theme that featured foods from different countries. “I liked having different countries for all my dishes, making options for everyone,” Forney said. She explained that the project was completed online using Google Slides and that the class had the entire week to finish it. According to Forney, one of the best parts was being able to design and decorate the menu however she wanted.

Freshman Alexa Goldfuss also completed the assignment by creating a themed restaurant menu. She said her menu included three drinks and dishes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Goldfuss explained that her theme focused on popular Hispanic foods and that she already knew many of them because of her background. “I feel pretty confident because our teacher Señora Schwenke showed us how,” Goldfuss said, adding that projects like this are helpful because they allow students to be creative while learning.
