Melbourne High School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School
IB subject courses give students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity, and their ability to solve problems.
IB World Schools who offer IB English to all of their students routinely make gains in literacy that exceed district and state averages. All students can be successful in these courses.
Ninth grade students entering Mel High in 2024-25 will take Pre-IB English 1. They will take the classes listed under MHS English Courses over their four years of high school. Accelerated pathways are available for interested students through the IB Diploma, Advanced Placement, or Dual Enrollment.
IB English offers multiple benefits to students, including enhanced language proficiency, improved writing skills, honors (grade 9-10) & accelerated (grade 11-12) course credit, preparation for state assessments, satisfaction of graduation requirements, and more!
