Track Warmups Inside & Outside by Aubrianna Presley
Track athletes participate in daily practices each day at 6:00 am every morning before school hours, as they continued preparing for the upcoming season. The practices include warm up drills like A skips B skips and also C skips and other activities, stretching and running drills focused on speed and endurance. coaches emphasized proper pacing and effort as athletes worked through each part of the workout. The practice helped athletes build strength while improving their overall performance on the track.
Some athletes felt confident during certain parts of practice while finding others more challenging. Marvell Cunningham said, “The workouts were easy for me, but I stay focused and lock in and challenge myself even more. I try to keep myself focused and keep my pace while doing the drills and warmups." Cunningham also explained that practicing consistently helped him improve his stamina and feel more prepared for competitions. His experience showed how effort and determination could get you somewhere.
Other athletes shared similar thoughts after completing the workout and drills. Jenna Antaki said, “Practice was intense the first couple of days, but when you keep giving it your all it will get better and easier. I liked that we had clear goals for each drill." Antaki also shared, “When practice ended, she felt refreshed and accomplished." Overall, track practice allowed athletes to strengthen their skills, stay motivated, and prepare for upcoming meets as the season progresses
