9th Graders’ Perspective on the District Phone Law by Matthew Trazzera

9th grader Maddyx Hill believed phones can make school work easier and faster. She explained that phones helped students stay organized because “everything would be quicker to access and less glitchy.” Hill also said that using a phone can be more convenient than a laptop. “I can just pull out my phone instead of waiting for a school laptop to load,” said Hill.

Phones also helped students stay connected and catch up on missed work. Hill shared, “I can communicate with my teachers if I miss a day or miss work.” She used apps like Google Classrooms and Google Slides to keep up with assignments. She also mentioned that educational videos on Youtube helped him understand lessons better.

Hill believed phones can even help students focus. “I focus better with music playing,” she said. She also added that some students work harder when they know they can use their phones responsibly. According to her, one major problem phones could solve is “the slow internet on the schools laptops.”
