Mrs. Jamie Reynolds, a dedicated teacher with seven years of experience, shared insights into how she prepares her students for their final articles of the semester. Reynolds, who teaches students involved in writing for the school’s journalism, goes over the importance of organization in her classroom. By providing her students with detailed guidance and setting her clear expectations, she ensures that they stay on track throughout an assignment. Her structured approach helps students manage their time effectively and produce quality work by the end of the semester.

Reynolds also discussed her methods of guiding students through topic selection during “Monday meetings.” These weekly gatherings allowed her students to gather based ideas on the current events happening within the school, from tests, and projects to extracurricular activities. This process helps students connect their articles to the school’s ongoing activities and keeps their writing relevant.

Additionally, Reynolds highlighted the benefit students gain from her class, particularly in communication skills. She explained that students not only learn to write for the school website but also improve their ability to express ideas clearly and seek help when needed. If a student struggles to receive assistance from a teacher, they can approach an editor or chief for guidance. The class follows a two week cycle, during which assignments are completed, revised, and finalized, reinforcing discipline and teamwork throughout the writing process.
