English Debate by Princess Islam
Here at Melbourne High, English class is not a regular class; It was a valuable session of educational skills, and speech. A class which teaches many skill sets, useful in and beyond class. This has been especially true for our English teacher, Mr. Tim Dale. With the aspiration to teach life skills that English class provides, Mr. Dale consumed his place and has been teaching for 20 years. This year, he looks forward to working with his students and working through challenges of the school year.
Mr. Dale has been excited to watch students overcome hurdles and progress in their learning. Inspired by his mother, and uncle who were both teachers, he went on to pursue the same career. With past experiences in college, he gathered the tool to become a very successful teacher, which enthused him to spread his knowledge with others. Teaches them the importance of their opinions, and listening to others, and discussing them properly. Mr. Dale said, “In English class, students take a closer look at important stories, and continue to read, write, and talk about them.”
This gives students the opportunity to open up to their classmates, and discuss the story and get an understanding of each other's opinions of the stories. Mr. Dale said, “This class provides its students with the language skills needed and helps students to understand, or learn about themselves, and the world they live in.” In class, students are currently reading “Mice and Men”, and taking notes. Occasionally students practice their listening skills while they listen to their fellow classmates' opinions on the story. Allowing them to debate on the controversy of it. Mr. Dale said, “The ending of the story has a dark, leaving a lot of room for discussion and debate between students.” Some advice Mr. Dale would give his students was, “I’m most impressed with students that care, and put in the work.”
Caption: A skill building English class taught by Tim Dale, here at Melbourne High. In English class, Maula Islam-Hopper, a 10th grade student here at Melbourne High, learns about the importance of understanding others take on stories.Through the skills taught by Mr. Dale. Students like Maula were able to debate on certain matters surrounding their opinions. With an intense passion to correct poor skills, Mr. Dale teaches listening and speaking skills to all of his students. During class, students work on their language skills, and grow an understanding of themselves as individuals and the world around them. After going over important stories, students debate about certain situations through the stories, causing them to form good listening and speaking skills. This class gives students an outlook on what they may use their skills for later in life. Mr. Dale said, “It was my hope and goal that students take away a better skill of language, and become stewards of the language.”
