A new face has arrived in the Social Studies department at Melbourne High, and she's already making new waves. Ms. Terry the school's new government teacher has arrived with a fresh approach to teaching civics. Known for her relatable teaching style and creative lesson plans, she's quickly becoming loved by tons of students. Rather it’s hands on activities or lively class discussions, Ms.Terry is changing the ways government is taught.
Before joining Melbourne High school, Ms. Terry has spent over 9 years teaching government and civics. She has a strong education and a passion on helping students to better understand how political systems work. She tried to make her teaching style more relatable because her students will eventually get to vote. Her goal is to make sure that they understand their rights and what the government can do. These methods can help students better understand what's going on in the real world.
Ms.Terry said, “I try to get students to relate to the content. Most will be voting soon, so it is important that they start forming their own ideas”. Her student-centered approach aims to build confidence, spark curiosity, and to help students see the relevance of politics in their everyday lives. By creating a space where students feel heard. She hopes to inspire students to have more thoughtful and engaged participation in class. Ms. Terry looks forward to continuing her passion for teaching and inspiring students to take interest in government and civic responsibility. She hoped to make a long-lasting impact on the school community through her dedication and love for teaching.

Ms.Terry said, “I loved my high school government class,” explaining that she wants to share her positive experience from her high school civics class with her students.
