JV Bulldogs Bring the Heat by Lily Majors
The stands were packed, the crowd was loud, and the Bulldogs fought hard under the lights. From the first whistle to the last play, the JV team showed grit and teamwork. Sophomore lineman Mark Perry has been playing football since his brother encouraged him to try it, and he focuses on helping the team succeed. “Playing both sides of the line is tough, but it helps me understand the game better. I know what the defense is trying to do and what the offense needs from me,” Perry said. He prepares for games by getting enough sleep, eating well, and staying mentally ready.
Alex Perry brings experience and leadership to the line, having played football for nine years. He enjoys how the team works together and the guidance from their coaches. “The coaches always push us to focus on the little details. It’s not just about strength; it’s about footwork, timing, and being disciplined every play,” Perry said. Outside of football, he also plays golf and snowboards, and he looks up to Joe Burrow because of how he overcame challenges to succeed.
Both players say football has helped them grow off the field as well as on it. Mark draws motivation from his teammates and coaches, saying that seeing their effort pushes him to give his best. Alex added that the team has taught him discipline, how to handle pressure, and how to stay focused. Their effort and determination show the energy and drive that keep the Bulldogs moving forward this season. “I try to get better every practice. Knowing my teammates are counting on me keeps me going too,” Mark said, summarizing the team’s mindset.
