Students practice for culture fest

Behind the Scenes: Culture Fest By Isabelle Heise

With Culture Fest approaching, students participated in auditions to showcase their culture through performance. Every year, the students and faculty work together to help Culture Fest improve, so this year they decided to host auditions. They started at 4:00 in the afternoon on November 20th. The auditions took place outside in the courtyard. Multiple groups of students came ready to show off their performances.

Having to audition meant that the students had to have their routines ready earlier than they would normally. Students like Junior Jasmine Gharia made a point to get together with their groups to rehearse. “We practiced at one of the kid’s houses and we learned the dance then continued to practice there”, said Gharia. The group worked hard together to learn a dance to represent India. With their hard work they were able to showcase their best at auditions.

At auditions there were multiple groups. Every group came prepared with their music and confidence. Junior Raj Dashondi was one of the students who went out confident and was able to enjoy the experience. “It was good, I think it was a great way to see who is really focused and set on performing their culture”, said Dashondi. Coming ready helped the groups to not only do well but also enjoy the experience of getting ready for Culture Fest.

There is still much to do to prepare for the festival. While some students continue to perfect their dance moves, others track down the ingredients to represent cultures through food. Everyone is working hard to create a Culture Fest that so many can enjoy. Culture fest will take place on December 13th. There will be something for everyone to enjoy. It will be an event no one will want to miss!
