English Classes Host a Beowulf Feast By Cayleigh Choy
Thanksgiving took on a heroic twist in Mrs. Thomas's English class when students celebrated with a Beowulf-themed feast. On that day, students were assigned to present their boast poems, which described their achievements and successes. Some students also brought food for the banquet.
David Santos, a senior, found some poems interesting, funny, and motivating. David thought he would be nervous to present his poem, but since his period was a small class, he didn’t feel too much pressure. David's favorite part was having fun with the food and talking to his friends.
David’s favorite snack at the banquet was a donut with filling inside. “I think my favorite thing I ate was the donut filling inside of it. It was chocolate covered and then there was this cream inside of it. I never got to know what the name of it was but next time I see it, I’ll definitely try to find the name.” Said Santos.
Jaydin Lombardi, another senior, thought it was interesting to hear everyone's poems and what they had accomplished. “It was interesting to see others and things they take pride in.” said Lombardi. Jaydin’s favorite snack was the soda and chicken made by his friend. The Beowulf-themed feast brought the class together through poems, food, and laughter. Students left inspired and full, celebrating both their achievements and the spirit of Thanksgiving. And everyone had a good time.
