Throwback Thursday: Winter Spirit Week by Isabella Zergivon
Coming into the Holiday season, students wore their favorite Christmas pjs on Thursday, not just to be part of spirit week, but also to be more comfortable at school. At least that was the unanimous reason for loving pj day among students and teachers at Mel High. Sophomore A’Jayla Capleton was among those who enjoyed being comfy while learning, “It’s the most comfortable day”, said Capleton.
Additionally, dressing up for Christmas in pjs is exciting because you can match with another person. Juniors Ambree Lord and Ethan Thomas dressed up together for the special holiday to spend as boyfriend-girlfriend. “I picked these pjs because I’m matching with my boyfriend and to be comfy at school," Lord said. Furthermore, wearing a fun onesie is one way to set the holiday spirit into motion. Mrs. Debra Alvarez loves pj day because it is fun and comfortable. “It’s cold today and these are warm”, Mrs. Alvarez said. Along with being excited for Christmas, Mrs. Alvarez looks forward to the food as one of her favorite traditions is making traditional Spanish dessert, “My favorite Spanish dish to make for Christmas dinner is homemade flan”, said Mrs. Alvarez. Finally, pj day is not just about Christmas spirit, it’s also about making new memories in school and getting excited for beautiful traditions during the holidays.
