Club Picture Day Recap
By Isabelle Heise and Lucie Frank
Club picture day caused a little disruption to the typical school day, especially for the yearbook team. Members of the team stayed in the gym to help ensure that everything went smoothly. From helping determine height order to collecting the names of students, the team members worked hard to almost completely eliminate issues. Students and faculty were all appreciative of the yearbook team's assistance.
This past year, the yearbook team doubled in size, meaning there were many new students helping out with club picture day. Even though most of the students were new to it, they were still successful. Naomi Sweeny was one of the freshmen new to the team, and to running club picture day. “It was a lot easier than I thought because of the instructions explained to me by Mrs. Reynolds, and my job wasn’t super complicated.” said Sweeny. Sweeny was one of the team members leading rows of students from the bleachers to the tables. Sweeny made sure that everyone stayed in line so when they would enter their name into the computers, they were in order. By being organized and prepared, the new team members were able to successfully help out.
Every year, club picture day could look different. From how many photographers are present, to where the yearbook tables are placed, there are small differences every year. These differences can keep the returning team members on their toes. This year, there were more clubs that planned to send in their own photos, like band. Senior Sarah Weems is one of the editors on the yearbook team who has had her fair shares of club picture days. “It was definitely easier than previous years because clubs weren’t piled on top of each other and there was a lot less club hopping,” said Weems. In previous years, in the chaos of the large groups of clubs piling into the gym, students would sneak from club photo to club photo, even if they were not in that club. However, this year, with the organized system and lower number of clubs, the yearbook team was able to avoid these mishaps.
Overall, many would deem Club Picture Day a success. New and old yearbook students were able to help manage the chaotic day to ensure good photos for every club. While there were some difficult moments and new members, the team worked together to get through them. The yearbook team can not wait for every club's photo to be featured in the yearbook.

Our school yearbook team is very helpful around the school. They also help run things behind the scenes. For example, they ran club picture day. When asked why she likes running club pictures, sophomore Kayleen Velazquez said, “helping out with club pictures was enjoyable for me. Obviously, because I didn’t have to go to all of my classes, but it also felt nice to know you are being helpful.
During club pictures, there were some things that had to be done to ensure organization. Velazquez said the yearbook team had to make sure members of clubs were lined up from shortest to tallest, had to lead them to the bleachers so their pictures could be taken, and then lead them in rows to get their names written down. This made the process fast and easy.
Velazquez was in the club pictures for yearbook, POCC, and Spanish club. There are many clubs to join. A lot of them will also look good for colleges. Velazquez also said she thinks club pictures ran smoothly this year. Next year there is nothing she can think of that should change.
